We wanted to make an impact in public shooting situations by providing store owners with a proactive solution that made cameras smarter. We did customer discovery with 100+ grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, and hotels. Found that theft and assault were massive issues CVS used to hike their prices to offset their theft problem.
We won the fan favorite award at the Virginia Tech Kickstart competition. Made a great deal of progress in the software from developing a pose recognition system that identified movements that we could generally differentiate from threatening to non-threatening. Along with setting up a solution for taking IP cameras and setting up streams with AI doing identifications in the background.
